Bonn University Press was co-founded by the University of Bonn and V&R unipress. Under company law Bonn University Press belongs to V&R unipress. The university manages the publishing programme via the academic board of the rector and oversees the performance of the publishing house as it was agreed on.

V&R unipress publishes at Bonn University Press established research works such as thematically complementing anthologies and monographs, festschrift, research reports, habilitation papers and dissertations (if marked “magna” or “summa cum laude”).

The board of the university decides if works should become part of the programme whereas for a series the publisher of the series decides on the content released.
