About this book

EMDR stands for eye movement desensitization and reprocessing, a therapeutic method of working through trauma that simultaneously provides clients with great inner poise. After introducing psychotraumatology and providing some theoretical background on the subject, the authors report on the empirical results gathered with EMDR. The emphasis lies on explaining the practical application of EMDR as well as discussing therapeutic problems that may arise, the proper approaches to such problems, professional affect management and resource-oriented work.
EMDR is a scientifically recognized method for treating posttraumatic stress syndrome in adults (in accordance with the expert opinion of the German Scientific Advisory Body for Psychotherapy after par. 11 of the German Psychotherapy Law).
