In his autobiography, Dubnow presents reports and commentaries by contemporaries from the centers of the intellectual society of his era; he documents key events in Jewish and general history from the late 19th into the first half of the 20th century, in the process revealing the ruptures and contradictions in his own scholarly thinking and political action.
