Christian Broda (1916–1987) is one of the most influential politicians of the Second Republic, having spent 19 years as head of the Austrian Ministry of Justice (1960–1966 and 1970–1983). His name comes up again and again in contemporary history. In Austria, he is particularly present in the context of legal reform during the Kreisky Era, outside of Austria he is primarily known for his fight for a worldwide ban of the death penalty. Nevertheless, for long time there was no biography of Christian Broda in existence. The book by Maria Wirth provides the first detailed portrayal of Broda.
