Now, after a nearly hundred-year-old editing history, the chapter of Wilhelm Dilthey’s collected works can be closed with the XXVIth volume. Volumes of the older series (I–XII), edited by his disciples, were mainly based on published literature, completed through an appendix taken from his manuscripts. The task of the Bochum Dilthey research post editing the later volumes since 1970 was to select, to decipher and to revise the majority of the handwritten unpublished works.
