On behalf of the 90th anniversary of the U.S. engagement in World War I the articles of this volume deal with the representation of Americans and Germans in American and German literature and film on World War I. The variety of papers finds its common focus in notions and theories of representation of the »other«, the use of stereotypes, and how these representations were used and / or changed in the preparation of World War II up to recent conflicts.
