The specialized field of dermatologists is taken as an example to show that and how prevention works:
An interconnected, multi-level concept for prevention has been established by an interdisciplinary working group at Osnabrück University. The group dealt with science-based prevention in the health system taking skin diseases as an example. Their work was recognized nationally and internationally and received various awards. Throughout Germany some models of this working group were even put into practice in working places where employees are exposed to situations hazardous to their skin. Prevention in dermatology is increasingly integrated in our complex social security system. This book is a report of the work of the Osnabrück scientists’ group between 2003–2008.
