This study on baptism and the liberation from sin gives a definition of the Pauline understanding, particularly of hamartia. Hamartia is defined as an anti-divine power which is definitely overcome by Christ. The author discusses the consequences which, according to Paul, this has for both the individual Christian and for the Church, and opens a discourse with Luther’s concept of “simul justus et peccator” and with the recent ecumenical dialogue.
