Making sure to look into the topic contemporary history Media Historical Education from different perspectives, this topic is examined in four sections. Three of them were dedicated to conveying contemporary history: contemporary history in the print media; contemporary history in film and television; contemporary history in the internet. The way of conveying contemporary history in schoolbooks, educational films and digital programs, thus school-related media, was the topic of the fourth section. The contributions evaluate which specific profiles, potentials and problems the single formats might have: Which are the respective intentions and concepts, which topics are being dealt with and how are they configured by the medium, what do the media-specific historic conceptions look like, which processes of reception and learning are being launched? In the field of Historical Culture the tome marks central research interests and outputs of Historical Didactics.
The volume documents the presentations of the 18th biennial meeting, which was held by the conference of Historical Didactics in Bonn at the Haus der Geschichte der Bundesrepublik (House of the History of the Federal Republic of Germany) in the year 2009.
