From “Life is like a box of chocolates” to “This family is a three-ring circus”: This book shows how we can use verbal imagery to perform miracles in systemic therapy and counseling.
The German language is full of colorful figures of speech and pithy sayings. Using them pointedly can sometimes help therapeutic and counseling situations to move on or get back on track. But what do practitioners need in order to successfully work with metaphors? They need a basic understanding of how metaphors are constructed and how they function, they need to learn the best methods of employing metaphors in practice, and they need a large “vocabulary” of such locutions. All of this is provided in this volume, together with a DVD containing a unique and easy-to-use database that can be expanded by the user. It contains over 18,000 different figures of speech and sayings as well as a number of templates and guidance videos.
