Gotthold Ephraim Lessing im kulturellen Gedächtnis – Materialien zur Rezeptionsgeschichte -
plus S&H
Gotthold Ephraim Lessing has held an honored place in cultural memory since the beginning of the 19th century. This was made possible through the presence of persons who »conserved« and »fostered« his works. In Lessing’s case in particular the school system has played a major role in crowning him by including his works in their canon and implanting him in cultural memory. This volume gives insights into how Lessing came to be taught in the Humanistic Gymnasiums of Germany between 1830 and 1914. The focus lies on the School Program, a publication type previously not well studied as a literary form. Contributions to »Minna von Barnhelm« have been edited.
