This volume describes the history of Jewish businessmen from Frankfurt/Main from the 1920s to the 1960s. The author describes the prerequisites, the form and results of the socio-economic upheaval caused by the destruction of Jewish business life during the Nazi regime. He follows the strategies used by these businessmen to remain in business (and to remain alive), how the Nazis tried to destroy their business activities and how their possessions and assets were restituted following the war. The Jewish businessmen studied are considered protagonists who tried to stem themselves against repression and persecution through economic means.
